Robbie Williams has received an invitation to perform for the Queen in this years Diamond Jubilee celebrations outside Buckingham Palace in June! Exclusive Interview: Caleb McGinn

Join me for this very special interview with the extremely talented Caleb McGinn.

What can you tell us Aussies about you? How and where did it all begin?
Well, I am a singer / songwriter / recording artist from Kansas in the United States and have a sound similar to John Mayer, Matt Nathanson, and Jack Johnson.  I started writing music a few years ago after I missed my flight home from London, England.  Trying to make the most of it though, I bought a guitar, wrote a few songs, and even played at some London pubs! Funny story about that too, when I wasn’t writing and playing guitar over there, I somehow always managed to find Australians to go out and party with at night.  You guys sure know how to have a good time!!

DAYS: Explosive May Episodes!

Only the other week I mentioned where Days of Our Lives needed to be in its story department... it seems someone has listened and is now toying with the idea of detonating a bomb with Salem's veterans all in the same room. Could this spell the end of Carrie? When Stefano is involved, bodies have a habit of going missing... is this how we say 'goodbye' to Carrie Brady? The look on Marlena and Hope's face as the bomb timer ticks down is priceless! After all these years, DAYS looks like winning back the audience it deserves.

Special Interview: TRAEDONYA

TheAussieWord goes one on one with Traedonya in a blog exclusive interview.

What can you tell us Aussies about you?  How and where did it all begin?  I’m a singer, songwriter, actress, record producer, entrepreneur and showgirl.  My musical journey started as a child.  I’ve been recording professionally, since the age of 13.  My first record was called “Do The Boogaloo”.  I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. What first got you interested in music?  My mother has always been a huge music and arts fan.  I’ve been to all types of music and arts events since I was around the age of five, all with my mother.  Mother, kept me in some sort of creative class, to keep me busy outside of school.  I fell in love with music at an early age. Who inspires or influences your quest to make great music?  My experiences, friends with their situations and just life in general.  There are so many things that inspire me to write and do good music.

Are there any tours or gigs planned for the future?  We are planning a few summer tour dates.  Hopefully, I’ll be hanging out in Aussie Land also.  That would be awesome! What are some of the biggest goals you hope to accomplish as an artist? To write great songs and feed the souls of music fans. What can fans expect from you in the coming months? I have several music videos coming out in the next few months.  All of the music videos are from The Remixes EP.  I recently did a new media commercial for Fanatic.FM, that people should be able to see soon. Success, what is the secret to success and what has been your biggest career highlight so far?  Being true to your self, is the true “key to success”.  So far, my biggest career highlight is opening up for the late, great, legend Etta James with my band “Sample This!”.  Another highlight for me, performing and playing in Moscow, Russia.

Which current stars in the industry do you highly rate?  I love M.I.A , she’s awesome to me!  I dig TechNine!  I love his style, delivery and his grind. How would people best describe you and your music?  Out of the box and different from most. Tell us a bit about your first EP or album?  The EP that is out right now is called “I’ll Give It 2 U” The Remixes EP.  The EP is a global remix project with DJs and remixers from around the world and the US.  We are in production right now, with my album. Do you have any exciting projects in the works?  I’m working on my album and several other music projects right now. The industry is huge, where do you see yourself a few years from now?  Performing around the world and enjoying being part of this crazy music life.

Name a few of your favourite Aussie artists.   This is a great question, I have a very clear and vivid moment with a few friends, concerning a very famous Aussie group.  First off, growing up, my mother would listen to all types of music, Pop, Gospel, Soul, Punk,Dance and Punk.  Men at Work got some really good play in my house, my mother loves them and I learned to love them too.  One evening, my manager A.K and I were hanging out in London with a friend who hung out in this Australian pub, just outside of Picadilly circle.  We went into the pub and chilled for a few hours.  They had a really nice sound system in the pub and when Men at Works’  “Land Down Under” came on….maaaann, people went super duper uper nuts! Singing, raising their mugs and cheering with pride!  I fell in love with that tune all over again, that evening!  So, I love Men at Work and I loooove Kylie Minogue, she’s hot!  “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” is one of my fav Dance/Pop tunes, to this day.  That tune still rocks!

The shape of the music industry has changed significantly over the years, including the use of social media, how do you feel about the industry as a whole and what it means to you in getting your records out into the public eye?  The question of social media and the internet have conflicting sides to me.  I think that in a lot of ways, it’s helpful for exposure to music artists.  At the same time though, it’s over saturated and has made far too many people think that they can be real entertainers, just because they can throw stuff up on the internet.  Quality music is hard to find on the internet, because there is so much trash on it!  Plus, everything is so instant, there is no brewing time.  Where before, you could put out 3 to 4 videos a year, now it’s every month or so.  To me, the internet is out of control!  But, you have to move with the game and technology, to stay in the mix.

Thanks for the interview! What can you leave fans with here on TheAussieWord blog today?  Stay focused, do what your heart and soul move you to do.

Exclusive Special Interview: BLACKCHORDS

TheAussieWord catches up with local talent Blackchords! Join me for this very special exclusive interview! Blackchords featuring Nick Milwright, Damian Cazaly, Nick Cheek & Tristan Courtney.

What can you tell us Aussies about you? How and where did it all begin?
N.M – Damian and I met a few years back at a mates place when the idea of playing music for a living was still very much a pipe dream. We started jamming and I think that both of us thought. “alright we should definitely continue doing this,” We continued playing and writing some tunes. We picked up some players we’d met around on the open mic circuit and soon enough the first formation of Blackchords was made, and so was the idea that we could do this for a living. After many a gig playing terribly at some terrible venues, mixed with some great nights and great gigs, we shed (and also added) new layers and players to the group. After taking off and spending some time in France to try and get some new experiences and to figure out what my next step would be I returned to Australia to play some shows and began jamming with Nick C. on drums, a long time friend of Damian’s and a fellow Tas-wegian he quickly became a permanent fixture in Blackchords. Soon after that though our Bass player, Jay, took off for a new career as a Dad so we were back on the hunt for yet another unit to add to the line up. It took us some time and some tours before the clouds parted and sent down our keystone in the form of Tristan “trigger”,“Pistol Whip” Courtney. Since that day, 2 years ago, we have essentially just been like the Brady bunch!

Darren Hayes: 'Stupid Mistake' Official Video!

Darren Hayes has released his latest masterpiece with the official video for Stupid Mistake going out to fans around the world today. This is the 4th single from Darren's Secret Codes and Battleships album. Darren is calling the track "very complicated... because it addresses the issue of a betrayal and of a loss of innocence.  It's angry and it's bitter in places."

Hayes explains that he would like the audience to draw their own conclusion from the song and its meaning... "If you could express everything in words there'd be no need for me to make songs or create art.  Although I have no intention of spelling it all out I do think it's interesting that what you see is the end result 15 years in the spotlight.  Everything I am and all that I've learned for good or for bad is in this video". Monday May 7th is the release date for the single in the UK. Darren's website has more information on the single as well as the upcoming UK tour... It's an amazing video, directed by Pixelfing, a release I'm calling... a 'smart success'.

What can you tell us Aussies about you. How and where did it all begin?
Hi Brian. I always sang, from being a tiny little girl. My dad - who was Czech and came to the  UK just after the  second world war ended, used to say that he'd sit me on his knee on the bus and I'd sing and sing and sing and he's say "shut up" and I just sang and sang. From being a little tidgy girlie I could remember things from the radio and sing whole songs. It was always there. I used to make our front step into a stage and do little shows with my dolls.

What first got you interested in music?
Music was always playing, everywhere you went. People sang at church, my parents had the radio on and we went to the theatre and the opera because my parents were European so they didn't think twice about carting their little tiny girl everywhere with them, they took me to everything. I was surrounded by music all the time. The lady who looked after me. whom I called my Autny Nora, she had a son, Barry, and he would have been a teenager then, and at his 21st birthday party I went and danced (I would have been 5 or 6)  and they let me play the drums - they loved me, so I just always had music all around me. When I was about 7 my dad gave me a violin that had been in the family and I started with lessons and learned to read and play. There was talk of my  becoming a violinist, I was entered for all kinds of competitions and so on, and I played in the school orchestra and all of that.  I can't think back to a time when I wasn't humming or music was playing. The world was sung into being.
